Here is what 50 Nokia Lumia cameras can do together

50 Nokia Lumia cameras helped the ‘bullet-effect’ Matrix style video go viral

Mumbai: Have you tried capturing multiple shots simultaneously? You might wonder how is this possible. But well, the arc made of 50 Nokia Lumia cameras have made it possible to capture multiple shots at the same time. An arc of wonder known as ‘Living Moments was made by Paul Trillo.

This project shoot turned into “bullet-effect” Matrix style video, which has gone viral. It has been viewed by nearly 216,055 viewson YouTube. The concept behind creating such a video was to show how different activities in a particular place are linked to each other at the same time. In one of the interviews, Paul Trillo also said ‘In our day to day lives, we pass by unknown strangers, stand next to a person, accidentally make eye contact with a stranger; all with keeping these people at a distance. But don’t realise that each move can make up for an interesting moment through a camera.

By creating this continuous camera motion with the use of 50 Lumia cameras, it gives a sense of shared experience. This roves that even though these people are all living vastly different lives, they are connected with each other directly or indirectly.

Paul Trillo found out that just using cell phones to shoot ‘bullet time’ or ‘frozen time’ is sort of gimmicky. He was tired of seeing the bullet time effect contained to a studio. For him, it was a matter of getting out to the streets and trying to capture something real. And this was the time when he decided to create a surreal camera motion and time manipulation while documenting reality simultaneously.

There are several classic moments captured by 50 Lumia cameras such as the pigeon man and skater, the lady with the crutches, youths chilling around etc. During the shoot, Paul Trillo felt more compelled to the more subtle, intimate portraits, as one is usually not used to seeing with a bullet-time type rig. ‘It became more about distilling that moment personal moment rather than doing something simply ‘crazy’ or ‘cool’ claimed Paul Trillo.

Another striking moments that was captured with the Nokia wonder arc was the man with no shirt sitting on the bench next to two sophisticated looking New Yorkers discussing an art exhibition next to a man sun bathing with no shirt on. The people at two opposite ends of the bench from two completely different worlds, sitting next to each other felt so quintessential New York. The guy with no shirt even told Paul Trillo that the key to looking good at 75 years old is that he hasn’t raised his voice in 50 years.

Features of Nokia Lumia that made this possible:

Besides its 41 mega-pixel, Lumia camera has a manual control of the camera settings like ISO, White Balance, Shutterspeed, etc. The app Paulo created for the Surface gave him a complete control of these parameters.

The Nokia Lumia camera allows one to move quicker and place a lens in somewhere you would never be able to fit before. Pushing 50 of these devices through the street was only possible with a camera the size of the 1020. So it allowed us to go places we wouldn’t have been able to go before. ‘It’s really about exploring the outside world and having a device on you at all times that can properly capture those moments,’ said Paul Trillo.

The above experiment proves that high-end smartphones can also shoot interesting pictures.
