Trinamool Congress MPs demand Opposition status in Lok Sabha

TMC is the fourth largest party in parliament with 34 MPs

New Delhi: The Trinamool on Wednesday claimed that the party would be the real opposition in both the Houses of the Parliament.

“We will be the main opposition even otherwise we are the fourth largest party in parliament,” said Trinamool MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay.

He, however, added that the party has not yet taken any decision on floor coordination with like minded opposition parties like the AIADMK and the BJD.

While Naveen Patnaik-led BJD and the Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK appear to be seeking good relations with the ruling NDA, Trinamool is sensing that the party could well emerge the main opposition voice along with the Congress in the Parliament.

With the Samajwadi Party decimated in the Lok Sabha polls and the BSP failing to open the account, the Trinamool with 34 MPs is being seen as the major block which could confront the NDA government in the Parliament.
