K Chandrasekhar Rao opens gift bag; announces several schemes
Gajwel (Medak Dist.): Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao got down to business and announced the implementation of several schemes that were part of the TRS election promises.
He announced that farmers’ crop loans to the tune of Rs 12,000 crore, covering 23 lakh farmers, would be waived in the next 10 to 12 days.
He stated that the government intended to create 14 new districts, raise the total number of districts in the state to 24, scrap road tax for autorickshaws, and provide two-bedroom housing for weaker sections in the state. Applications for the first 5,000 houses were already open.
Mr Rao promised free education from the kindergarten to post-graduate level, and in integrated residential schools. Old age pension of Rs 1,000, and Rs 1,500 for the handicapped, was another welfare measure that the Chief Minister announced. He said that Gajwel, Shadnagar and Choutuppal would be developed as horticulture hubs.
“I discussed the loan waiver scheme at the State Level Bankers’ Meet. The crop loans come to about Rs 12,000 crore covering 23 lakh farmers. We promised to waive loans below Rs 1 lakh. This will be done in 10-12 days time,” Mr Rao said at the meeting.
