Prime Minister Narendra Modi lists policy priorities

PM had a 90-minute meeting with his union cabinet minister on important issues

New Delhi: The main agenda of the Union Cabinet’s 90-minute meeting on Wednesday was a detailed discussion on the presidential address, keeping governance, delivery, accountability and transparency as its main highlights. In consonance with the BJP manifesto, the ministries have given their inputs for the address, that will be followed by a debate and the Prime Minister’s reply on June 11.

Restructuring the governance model, which include decision and delivery processes, identification of focus areas like simplification of tax structures, infrastructure and energy will be the highlights of the address, sources added.

At his meeting with the secretaries, Mr Modi outlined his agenda of governance and his expectations from them. He is also believed to have given them a glimpse of his policy priorities. Sources said the meet was more of an interaction where sector wise priorities were listed.

In all, 77 top bureaucrats, including finance secretary Arvind Mayaram, home secretary Anil Goswami, defence secretary Radha Krishna Mathur and foreign secretary Sujatha Singh, attended the meeting.
