Picturegate incident: Tainted ADGP P Ravindranath wants to stay on now
Bengaluru: The Additional Director General of Police, Research & Restructuring wing P. Ravindranath, who had tendered his resignation last week after he was charged with alleged sexual assault and criminal intimidation of a young woman on Wednesday, ‘unconditionally’ withdrew his resignation after he handed a letter to the Director General and Inspector General of Police Lalrokhuma Pachuau.
“I would like to withdraw my resignation,” said a one-line letter to the head of police force.
Later Mr. Ravindranath reportedly met the Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee.
Mr. Ravindranath had insisted that his resignation should be forwarded to the Government of India but according to sources, as alleged conditions for withdrawing his resignation, he reportedly demanded the suspension of High Grounds Sub Inspector of Police M.S. Ravi and that he be posted back to Bengaluru. He has been posted as ADGP, Research & Restructuring Wing, Dharwad.
The CS had forwarded his resignation letter on June 2 on approval from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister K.J. George. The Criminal Investigation Department questioned the ADGP for the fourth day on Wednesday during which he maintained that he had not taken any photographs and that he was framed.
