K Kesava Rao is elected as TRS leader in parliament
Jitender Reddy elected as TRS leader in LS and Vinod Kumar as deputy leader
Hyderabad: TRS secretary general and Rajya Sabha member K. Kesava Rao has been appointed as the party’s Parliamentary leader.
Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday also appointed Mahbubnagar MP A.P. Jitender Reddy as leader of the party in Lok Sabha and Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar as deputy leader. Warangal MP Kadiam Srihari has been appointed as party whip in the Lok Sabha.
The Chief Minister took the decision in consultation with party MPs and other senior party leaders. It is learnt that a TRS MP delegation will soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invite him to attend the gala function that is being planned to inaugurate the new state of Telangana.
Mr Jitender Reddy said that the TRS would maintain cordial relationship with the NDA and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We will work in tandem with the Centre for the development of Telangana. I have good relations with the BJP brass in New Delhi and I will strive for more funds, projects for Telangana. We will compete with Mr Chandrababu Naidu in lobbying,” Mr Jitender Reddy remarked.
Asked about the party’s plans on the Polavaram project, he said the TRS would raise its voice against merger of the seven mandals in Khammam district with Andhra Pradesh and demand change in the project design.
“We will raise the issue in Parliament when the Session starts,” Mr Jitender Reddy added.
