Telangana CM Chandrasekhar Rao works on ‘Brand Hyderabad’

Hyderabad to get improved infrastructure to attract IT companies and investments

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday directed officials to give a major boost to the brand image of Hyderabad by improving existing infrastructure and taking up development of new transport, civic, environmental and social infrastructure in and around the capital city to attract IT companies and investments from all sectors.

He made it clear to the officials that no additional taxes should be levied on the people as state government will release whatever finances are required to give a major boost to the image of the capital, he said.

He directed the officials to prepare short-term and long-term master plans along with estimated costs of projects within 10 to 15 days. Difference should not be made between the Old City and new city, the CM told officials of GHMC and HMDA.

In his first review meeting on Tuesday, Mr Rao said that thousands migrated to the city and the population was 94 lakh and counting. HMDA and GHMC officials were asked to prepare master plans for a projected population growth of another 30 to 40 lakh due to the proposed Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR).

Telangana deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali said that the CM was particular about solving the drainage problems. Supply of quality drinking water should be the focus area of officials and encroachments should be removed from the catchment so that Osmansagar (Gandipet) and Himayatsagar can be restored to their earlier glory, CM has said.

“Hyderabad has a good name since the time of the Nizams. But just five minutes of heavy rain leaves the roads inundated. Officials were asked to solve this problem,” said the deputy CM.

Mr Rao also directed the officials to make the city slum-free. He has also asked officials to set up garbage dumping yards and beautify river Musi.
