Law officers to continue in posts till in Seemandhra
Hyderabad: Advocate General A. Sudarshan Reddy on Tuesday submitted his resignation along with additional advocate generals K.G. Krishna Murthy and Badana Bhaskar Rao to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Mr Sudarshan Reddy, a close associate of former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, was appointed as the Advocate General on January 17, 2011 and he continued in the post even after the resignation of Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy.
In view of Andhra Pradesh division, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan had recently issued an order for continuation of the Advocate General and his team to represent both the Telangana and residuary state of AP in the High Court till the appointment of new advocate generals for both the states.
As the Telangana state already came into existence and Mr Chandrasekhar Rao’s government sworn-in, the Advocate General and his team decided to submit their resignation on Monday, but they were unable to get the appointment of the Chief Minister due to the later's busy schedule.
However, on Tuesday at 3.15 pm they met the Chief Minister and submitted their resignations as far as to their posts concerned with the new state of Telangana.
Sources said that the Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had asked them to continue in their posts till the appointment of new AG for Telangana.
As the new government in Andhra Pradesh has not yet sworn-in, Mr Sudarshan Reddy and his team has to continue in their posts and represent the residuary state of AP till the appointment of new AG.
As of now, as many as 37 law officers, including the Advocate General and two Additional Advocate Generals, have been representing the combined state of Andhra Pradesh in the High Court.
As both the states came into existence and the AP High Court became common High Court for both the states, the respective governments have to appoint law officers to represent their cases in the High Court.
