Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders’ felicitation ceremony was marred by an uncalled for occurring when die-hard KKR fans jumped over the police barricades to sneak into the are where the event was going to take place.
While the programme was open to all and free, the passes to witness the event were far and few between. Hence, the followers broke the barriers set up by the police to grab the seats that were available at the Eden. In the sad occurring, many women and kids are reported to be injured.
As the situation went out of control, police were forced to resort to a mild cane charge. But the Rapid Action Force had a tough time to keep the situation in check.
The ceremony was scheduled to commence at 1 p.m. at Eden. However, the loyal and happy KKR fans flooded in to witness the venue long before the scheduled start.
The fans keenly waited for KKR’s arrival. The team owner Shah Rukh Khan though arrived late as there was some technical issue with the fight he was travelling by.
