Put Polavaram dam work on hold: Odisha CM tells PM Narendra Modi

Naveen Patnaik appealed to him to hold back the project

Hyderabad: The row over the controversial Polavaram project has extended to other states.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and appealed to him to hold back the project as his government had some objections to it.

Earlier, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh also raised some objections on the Polavaram project. According to sources, the Odisha Chief Minister told the Prime Minister that his government had filed a case in the Supreme Court against Polavaram project in the past. The reason being that if the project went through several villages in the state of Odisha would be submerged.
