Celebrations as Andhra Pradesh High court resumes work
High Court was one of the centres of the statehood agitation
Hyderabad: The High Court resumed work after its summer vacation on Monday amid a festive atmosphere. The High Court was one of the centres of the statehood agitation, and witnessed several unruly scenes. Advocates from both states greeted each other on Telangana formation. The High Court Advocates’ Association celebrated the Formation Day.
Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta turned down a request to hoist the National Flag in the premises but allowed advocates to celebrate by cutting cakes. Later, some Telangana advocates hoisted the National Flag outside the court premises. Authorities replaced the name boards at the court, which now reads “High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the state of Telangana and the state of Andhra Pradesh.”
