Andhra Pradesh DGP Ramudu to make policing public friendly
Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer Jasti Venkata Ramudu took charge as the DGP of Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
Mr Ramudu is a 1981 batch IPS officer, and was DGP (operations) heading both Greyhounds and Octopus.
He was born in Narsimpalli of Taddimarri mandal of Anatapur district in an agricultural family.
He is a post graduate in economics from the S.V. University of Tirupati, and holds a PG diploma in police administration from the Leicester University of UK.
Mr Ramudu also has an LLB from OU. He started his career as ASP Guntur, and worked as SP in Warangal and joint commissioner of police (Law and Order) in the city. He also served as IG Admin and IG Warangal zone.
He won the Indian Police Medal, President's Police Medal and Antrik Suraksha Seva Pathak.
After taking charge, the Andhra Pradesh DGP said, “I will focus on people-friendly policing. The police will support the new government development efforts by maintaining law and order.”
