Ms Rawat, had officially appointed her father, as her representative

Lucknow: After reportedly being pulled up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka Rawat, the BJP MP from Barabanki, revoked the appointment of her father as her representative in her constituency.

Sources said that it was ‘conveyed’ to Ms Rawat that the Prime Minister was irked after reading reports that she had appointed her father as her representative in the constituency.
It was said that Ms Rawat had received a call from the PMO and Mr Modi had conveyed his disapproval on the appointment. It is noteworthy that the Mr Modi had clearly instructed all party MPs not to appoint relatives as their personal staff.

Ms Rawat, a first time MP, had officially appointed her father, Uttam Ram, a retired provincial development ser-vices officer, as her representative, and had given him the authority to conduct all development work on her behalf.

Ms Rawat said on Sunday, “My father and my relatives will not hold any such post now.”
