Rupees 7 thousand crore budget surplus for Telangana
Hyderabad: Telangana, which comes into existence on Monday, starts off with a revenue surplus of Rs 7,500 crore, while Andhra Pradesh begins its journey on June 8 with a revenue deficit of nearly Rs 15,000 crore.
The projected expenditure for Telangana for the next 10 months is Rs 43,240 crore against an income of Rs 50,750 crore.
The Central tax share to AP is pegged at Rs 13,462 crore, and overall income is less than Rs 55,000 crore, against a projected expenditure of nearly Rs 70,000 crore.
AP CM-in-waiting N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked AP chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, who took office on Sunday, and other bureaucrats to work out the deficits in every department. He has asked them to suggest ways to not only overcome the revenue deficit but also get maximum Central funds to develop the new AP capital.
Mr Naidu will try to get the maximum possible funds from the Centre to overcome the deficit. Sources said some senior IAS officers told Mr Naidu that injustice was done to Seemandhra in various departments.
