Rains hit city, heat wave likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana
Rains hit the city bringing respite from the sudden increase in temperatures over the past couple of days.
Rain also occurred at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Telangana. Parts of Hyderabad, including Secunderabad, Marredpally, Begumpet and some other areas received rain.
With just a week left for the Southwest monsoon to hit Rayalaseema, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh, temperatures across the state have been soaring high. Hyderabad recorded 42.4 degree Celsius on Sunday. The Met department has also given a heat wave warning for the next 48 hours across the districts of Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Ranga Reddy of Telangana. The highest maximum temperature of 46 degree Celsius was recorded at Hanamak-onda. “Conditions are becoming favourable for the advance of the southwest monsoon into some parts of southeast Arabian sea, Maldives and Cape Comorin area,” Met officials said.
