New Delhi: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive asking various ministers to create Facebook pages, and sign up to Twitter, in a bid to make all government operations transparent and easily accessible to people, the Union information and broadcasting ministry has sprung to action.
The I&B ministry is preparing a blue print to help various ministries comply with this directive from the top. The new media wing of the ministry is likely to head the operationisation of these social media initiatives aimed at enabling the government to establish a direct contact with the common man.
Sources stated that officials of various ministries will be given detailed training in handling social media, responding to requests and queries and also taking suggestion from other users wanting to interact with the government’s pages or handles.
