Busy Sunday at united Andhra Pradesh Secretariat for the last time
Hyderabad: The Secretariat was buzzing with activity on Sunday, its last day as the administrative headquarters of the united state.
With the outgoing government cancelling the holiday to ensure completion of bifurcation-related works, the Secretariat witnessed full attendance.
Employees who were allotted to Telangana received their “order to serve” during the course of the day. The rest will work for the AP government for the present.
There was anxiety as employees waited for the postings. When the government put up the posting details on the website, and eager employees logged in in the manner of students checking their exam results.
Those who got the state of their choice looked relieved while those who did not looked tense, not knowing when they would get back to the offices belonging to their native state.
Later, there were emotional moments as they bid each other farewell and recalled their long service together, though in effect they will be working in a different set of buildings in the same premises.
Employees took group photographs and wished each other good luck as they headed to their separate offices.
Several Telangana employees were allotted to AP and vice-versa and they were seen discussing how long they would have to work in places against their preferences.
Looking at the recent statements made by some Telangana and Seemandhra employees associations that they would not work if they are not allotted to their native state, the government on Sunday
warned the staff that they would face suspension if they fail to report at their respective offices on Monday.
Following this, employees decided to report to their new postings, and later take up the issue with the respective chief ministers.
