Three girls go missing from Mulayam Singh Yadav's Mainpuri
Lucknow: Close on the heels of the Badaun gangrape and murder case, three sisters have gone missing from their home in Mainpuri district since Thursday night.
Mainpuri was the constituency of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and he recently vacated the seat to retain Azamgarh.
The grandparents of the missing girls told local reporters that all three sisters were minor — aged 13, 15 and 17 — circle officer Bhupendra Singh said that one of the girls was an adult.
An FIR has been registered in the case of the missing siblings, who are suspected to have left home late Thursday night or early Friday.
The parents of the girls had left home several years ago, and the three sisters, along with an older brother who is 20 years old, were living with the grandparents.
The girls’ grandfather said the family was sleeping on the terrace that night and the fact that the girls were missing was noticed on Friday morning after which an FIR was lodged in the matter.
“The grandfather said the girls appear to have left home of their own, as their belongings are missing too. The girls used bed-sheets to make ropes to climb down from the terrace,” the police official claimed.
Police has interrogated several people, including neighbours. The eldest of the girls was in a relationship, sources said, and may have eloped with her boyfriend.
