School shocker: 9-yr-old raped, murdered in toilet

Accused, Trishul, is arrested by the police

BENGALURU: A 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her 19-year-old neighbour in the toilet of a government school situated in Hale Chandapura in Hebbagodi police station limits on Saturday evening. The accused, Trishul, was later arrested by the police.

The girl’s family was living in a rented house near the school. Her father is a bus conductor in BMTC, while her mother is a housewife. Trishul, who works in a private company, was residing along with his parents in the neighbouring house and both families were close to each other.

On Saturday evening, the deceased was playing with her younger sister near her house. On noticing her, Trishul offered to buy her chocolates and took her to a nearby Thirumagondanahalli Government School. He then took her to the school toilet, located on the rear side, and raped her.

He abandoning the girl and returned to his house and hardly displayed any signs of anxiety. As it grew dark the girl’s parents began searching for her. They even enquired their neighbours about the same. Late in the night the parents lodged a complaint at the Hebbagodi police station of their missing daughter, added the police.

During preliminary investigation, the police learnt that she was last seen playing with her sister. When she was questioned she revealed that Trishul had taken her to buy chocolates.
The police then picked up Trishul on Sunday morning and interrogated him. The accused confessed to the crime and in his statement said that he took the girl to the school, raped her and fled the spot. However, when the police took the accused to the crime spot, they found the girl dead.

An investigating officer said, “The girl’s body has been sent for post-mortem to Victoria hospital and we are awaiting autopsy report. Only then it would be clear whether she succumbed to her injuries or was murdered. The accused is in the police custody and we are questioning him. It is too early to say anything,” said police officials.
