Badaun: Two of the rape and murder accused confess
Badaun (UP): Two of the five men arrested in the case of gangrape and murder of two teenaged cousins in Uttar Pradesh have confessed to the crime, police claimed on Sunday, even as the SP government faced more criticism over the incident. The Uttar Pradesh police asserted that it was in the process of collecting “concrete” evidence to nail the culprits in court in the case.
“Two of the accused, who have been arrested in connection with this incident, have confessed to their crime during interrogation,” SP Atul Saxena said, but refused to identify the men.
Three brothers Pappu Yadav, Awadhesh Yadav and Urvesh Yadav have been arrested and booked under sections 302 (murder) and 376 (rape) of IPC while constables Sarvesh Yadav and Chhatrapal Yadav were also arrested and booked under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
Mr Saxena said that in such cases the accused usually resile from their statements in court so they will ensure that there is evidence which can stand judicial scrutiny.
