Does being jobless make it difficult to find a date?
Washington: A new survey has revealed that when it comes to finding a date the worst situation that can happen is being jobless
According to a new poll from WE tv, more than half of respondents said that they would be uncomfortable with dating someone who is unemployed making it the worst out of the eight financial-situation questions posed, CBS News reported.
Having significant student loan debt, with 42 per cent of respondents saying this would be a turn-off for them. Americans are fairly traditional when it comes to gender-based roles and dating. About half said the man should be the one to pay for a first date.
Still, there were caveats: most respondents (70 per cent) said it was unacceptable to expect your date to pay for everything.
Other no-nos included searching online to find out how successful your date is, as well as turning down a date because the person asking is perceived as unsuccessful, with 63 per cent and 61 per cent condemning those actions, respectively. When it comes to men's earnings versus women's, there were also some traditional views, with men less likely to say they're comfortable dating someone who makes significantly more than them, the survey found.
