Pensioners’ medical bills to be shared between AP and Telangana government
Hyderabad: Though the Reorganisation Act had provided clarity on the disbursement of pension to government officers after bifurcation, the government on Saturday clarified who would foot the medical bills of the pensioners.
The medical bills will be shared on a 58.32 : 41.68 ratio between AP and Telangana. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said that he would also discuss the issue of hikes in pensions with the new governments.
Government officials and pensioners, including civil servants, local body employees, former public representatives, judicial officers and others fall under the AP Integrated Medical Attendance Rules.
Certain public and private hospitals have been identified as referral hospitals by the government where medical treatment can be obtained. Pensioners can claim their medical expenses from the office they last worked in.
The health, medical and family welfare department has issued guidelines regarding the disbursement of medical bills of pensioners based on the finance department’s suggestions.
Pensioners can claim their medical bills from the state where they are currently drawing their pension, but the bill will be shared by both governments in a 58.32 : 41.68 ratio.
