Telangana: Centre will help both states, assures Venkaiah Naidu

Union minister attacked KCR indirectly, saying he was trying to create disturbances

Hyderabad: Union urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday launched a scathing att-ack on Telangana Chief Minister-designate K. Chandrasekhar Rao in-directly, saying he was trying to create disturbances and apprehensions. He pledged the Centre’s complete support to Telangana whichever party forms the government. He also asserted that the Polavaram project would not cause any harm to Telangana and denied any role in the recently passed Ordinance.

Mr Venkaiah Naidu visited the city for the first time after the election results and addressed party workers at the BJP state office in Nampally. Juggling between Telugu, Hindi and English, he asserted that Polavaram project would do no harm to Telangana while criticising the TRS for calling a bandh on the issue. “Polavaram project will be of no problem to Telangana. But before forming government, people have called for a bandh. Some people are saying Venkaiah Naidu has a role in the Ordinance but I am not afraid to tell people what I do,” he said.

Referring to TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said, “Some people are trying to create apprehensions and disturbances by provoking regional feelings. We must stop it. We are one country and nobody needs to be afraid. We said earlier also that nothing will happen to people in Hyderabad.”

The Union minister also said the two governments should work together and the Centre would cooperate with them. “Elections are over and time for politics is over. Support for development of Andhra is not biased towards the state. We will support both states,” he said. On the contentious issue of government employees’ division, he said, “Division of employees will be done strictly as per established procedures. Guidelines in this re-gard have been drawn and necessary orders will be issued today,” the Union minister said.
