9,983 employees to serve Telangana state
Hyderabad: Contrary to the apprehensions that lakhs of employees would have to shift their places of work from June 2, only 9,983 state-cadre employees will be asked to serve the Telangana state.
They have to report for duty from Monday, failing which their salaries will not be released. The department of personnel and training has finalised the number of employees to be allocated on “order to serve” basis i.e., temporary allocation, likely to be three months, to ensure that the new government of Telangana starts running the administration without any hassles.
These 9,983 employees include 8,600 heads of departments, 1,255 in Secretariat and 128 in Legislature.
The “orders to serve” will be issued to the employees on Sunday or Monday morning. If the orders are served on Sunday, the employees will be informed through e-mail, SMS or phone.
Sources said finally it was revealed that there are 600 more Telangana employees compared to sanctioned posts for Telangana, while only 67 employees from Seemandhra are in surplus in the Secretariat.
The undivided state has total 12.5 lakh posts out of which 65,000 are state-cadre posts. However, about 47,000 state-cadre employees are working presently as the rest are lying vacant.
Dr P.V. Ramesh, principal secretary of finance (R&E), government of united AP said that the central government has the authority to allocate employees for both the states to render justice. This authority will continue for one year from the Appointed Day.
However, the CMs of the states would have the power to change the allocation in consensus with each other. Grievance cells will be set up to redress issues with allocation.
Until the final allocation, promotions will be kept in held for state-cadres and All India Service officers. Pension has to be paid by the state where one retires.
