Shahid Kapoor drops starry ego for good scripts
The actor had impressed the industry and his fans
Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor has clearly had more misses than hits in his career. After a series of flops, he managed to somewhat save face with his last release R... Rajkumar, which did decent business at the box office. But the actor seems to be extra cautious now regarding his choice of roles.
He went out of his way to mend his differences with Vishal Bharadwaj to grab Haider, his work in the film is being well appreciated by insiders. His quest continues for better scripts that can re-establish his acting credentials and put him in the league of Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
The actor had impressed the industry and his fans in his dual role in Vishal’s Kaminey. But he failed to capitalise on the image of a “serious” actor. But now, after Haider, Shahid seems to be on a mission.
According to close sources, he is now keen to work with Vishal’s protégé Abhishek Chaubey of Ishqiya and Dedh Ishqiya fame.
“Shahid has liked a certain script and has asked Vishal and Abhishek if he can be a part of it,” says a source. Clearly Shahid doesn’t want to let a good script slip out of his hands.
Currently, his commercial viability is sound and Shahid appears to be determined to make the most it.
