Galaxy S5 Active, shock-resistant version of the Galaxy S5 released
Mumbai: Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, has a new sibling that sports a rugged exterior along with features that can cope up with your outdoor sports and adventuring hobbies.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has identical features when compared to the Galaxy S5. A few notable changes would be the slightly larger shell (0.8mm thicker) and weight (25g heavier)—thanks to the exoskeleton which is made rugged and strong.
The chassis is MIL-STD-810G certified. This includes salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant, to be precise. The rest of the hardware is the same, which are as follows.
The Galaxy S5 Active features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood is a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset which features a 2.5GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processor and coupled with 2GB of RAM. The rear camera sports a 16MP sensor, while a 5MP camera makes up for the front. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac 2x2 MIMO, 3G/4G/4GLTE, NFC and BlueTooth 4.0 LE.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is available in Camo Green, Titanium Grey, Ruby Red variants, but only features 16GB of internal storage. However, you can expand the storage up to 128GB using a micro SD card. The Active features Android KitKat v4.4.2 operating system and is fuelled using a 2800 mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has debuted exclusively with AT&T for a price of USD 715 (Approx Rs 43,000).
