Split not to hamper Eamcet counselling
Hyderabad: Counselling for Eamcet in the two states is expected to be held normally this year. Senior government officials said the State Council for Higher Education would oversee the counselling procedure, with heads of the two states’ technical education departments acting as convener and co-convener.
The Council is continuing without bifurcation as it has been included in the 10th Schedule of the Reorganisation Act. Senior officials said counselling would be conducted by the Council and department heads of technical education would act as convener and co-convener.
Sources in the SCHE, however, said there might be a disagreement if one department head is appointed the convener and other the co-convener.
“Nobody knows what will happen after June 2. There is a proposal to appoint the department head of one state as the convener and the other state department head of technical education as co-convener. But the second officer might disagree,” sources said.
Council sources further added, “However, the admissions will go on. Both states want counselling and admissions to go on smoothly.”
Sources in the technical education department said positions of convener and co-convener can be decided according to seniority of officers of both sides.
