I don’t do films for money: Piaa Bajpai
Chennai: Piaa Bajpai, who plays the female lead in Lakshmy Ramakrishnan’s Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe, has many reasons to be elated. The actress is doing a full-fledged, performance-oriented role for the first time in the film, something she had long wanted to do.
Piaa says that she is essaying a strong, emotional character in NVM, contrary to the bubbly roles she has been playing till date. She asserts that she fell in love with the plot and characterisations of Lakshmy's directorial debut, Aarohanam and hence, gave a green signal for the project.
“Lakshmy’s approach to filmmaking is quite different, I was bowled over by it,” Piaa says. “She knows how to extract the best out of a person. Also, she is an intelligent person with great clarity of mind — she knows what she wants from each actor. I have complete faith in her.”
The petite damsel who is also doing a movie in Mollywood asserts that she would foray into B’town only when she comes across a flawless script.
“I'm particular about taking up only those films with which I will feel proud to be associated. I don’t prefer to sign a movie just for the heck of it and become a shadow of the lead actor. Moreover, I haven’t planned anything in my career nor do I prepare for my roles. I’m waiting for a slew of roles that provide satisafaction,” she says.
Piaa points out that she’s quite contrary to the wacky roles she has played on screen: she is a reserved girl in real life. An avid learner as she describes herself, she’s all set to learn the nuances of horse riding. Piaa also has plans to learn belly dancing as she believes it is the best form of dance for girls.
