The racing diva is slated to portray Rooney Mara's character in a Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-inspired film
Chennai: While racing diva and Page 3 regular Alisha Abdullah has been in the news for her upcoming debut in the biking saga in Irumbu Kuthirai, what’s more interesting is that her second film is inspired by David Fincher’s Girl with the Dragon Tattoo starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.
“It’s a psychological thriller and I play the lead. I help the hero crack the mystery, albeit with unexpected consequences. There is a huge twist to my role and I’m excited about it. I don’t race in the film, but there’s immense scope for me to test my limits in various ways,” says Alisha, not revealing whether she would sport punk-rebel haircut and piercings that Rooney Mara had made popular.
She adds, “For now, the focus is on Irumbu Kuthirai that will release soon. It is a small role, but a perfect entry for me into films as I’m doing what I do best— scorching the race track! Unfortunately, I couldn’t accompany the cast and crew to Italy as I was busy competing, but I had my fair share of fun.”
On the racing front, Alisha got her first taste of international stardom last week when she excelled at the Toyota Yaris Cup in Pattaya, Thailand. The 24-year-old zoomed to two podium finishes in both her races.
“In the first race, I qualified ninth, but finished first in my class — such a heady feeling. In the next open class race, I was second. I was racing against both male and female racers from the world over, in conditions and climate I hadn’t experienced before. I really had to train in overdrive to prepare myself, especially for the wet race,” she exclaims.
Next up, Alisha will compete in a championship in Phuket, and will travel across several islands in Asia over the course of the year. “There are no race tracks, so we’ll be driving on the streets! It’s going to be super exciting and an insane experience,” she signs off.
