UP rape shocker: Victim’s mother thrashed by accused’s father, left speech-impaired

Etawah: Rape horrifies a victim emotionally more than it does physically. In rural India, the guilt and shame overshadows the fight for justice and the families of rape victims are often at the receiving end.

In a shocking incident in Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, mother of a rape survivor was allegedly beaten up brutally by the father of the accused on May 26.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav belongs from the same district.

The accused had entered the victim’s house and rape her. Later, he was arrested by police and a case was registered against him.

The victim’s mother, however, has been constantly threatened by the accused’s family to withdraw the case.

After she refused to bow down, the accused’s father thrashed her brutally, leaving her speech impaired.

Under intensive care at a hospital in Etawah, the woman is struggling for life while the culprits are still at large.
