No tolerance to graft in MNREGA
Gopinath Munde, the new rural development minister said a punishment provision will be added to MNREGA for delay in payment to rural job seekers and asked state governments to take action against officers who are responsible for it. He made it clear that there would be zero tolerance to corruption and timely payment of MNREGA wages he will work upon in the coming days. He also said that he would favour restructuring rather than repealing the controversial Land Acquisition Act initiated by the UPA.
Internal security is Rajnath’s priority
Rajnath Singh, the Union home minister, asked his officials to come up with out of the box ideas for internal security and better coordination between the Centre and states. Crucial divisions like Internal Security, Naxal Management, Centre-State, Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir have been directed to prepare a roadmap to improve internal security architecture in the next few days. During the familiarisation exercise, Mr Singh, who took charge of office on Thursday, asked the head of different divisions to make individual presentations.
Gadkari to use Ganga For Transport boost
Nitin Gadkari, who took the charge of road transport and highways and shipping ministry on Thursday said that restoring river Ganga’s glory and tapping its potential as an internal transport mode along with “full transparency” in ministry’s functioning lie top on the agenda. The ex-BJP chief, known for his passion for infrastructure segment said he has been entrusted with a huge task of overhauling the sector.
Fast clearance to infra projects promised
Prakash Javadekar, the new environment minister, promised to ensure “fast clearances” to infrastructure projects in a transparent manner and launched a process for transparent environmental clearance. After assuming charge as MoS(Independent) for environment, forest and climate change, he also said that he would take effective measures to conserve ecology.
