Move for efficient governance? Modi gives 10-point mantra to his ministers
New Delhi: To ensure that his government effectively hits the ground running, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday told his ministerial colleagues to set a 100-day agenda that is focused on efficient governance, delivery and time-bound implementation of programmes and schemes.
In the backdrop of his 12-year experience as Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Modi also stressed on the need to give priority to issues brought up by state governments as well as MPs.
It is learnt that the Prime Minister told ministers that he believed that the progress of states could ensure the real development of the country.
Mr Modi gave these directives to ministers at a meeting of the Union Cabinet in the context of his 10-point “vision”, that includes increasing investment, time-bound completion of infrastructure projects and exploiting natural resources for the country’s benefit.
Mr Modi is planning to address the nation, possibly after the brief Parliament session, when President Pranab Mukherjee will address a joint sitting to outline the government’s agenda.
“The Prime Minister issued guidelines to ministers at the Cabinet meeting. He asked the ministers to set a timetable for the first 100 days listing priorities,” said parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu.
