'English & Foreign Language University' students protest at gun park against suspension

Students alleged Vice-Chancellor was suppressing voices of marginalised students

Hyderabad: The Students’ Forum for Justice protested with black flags at Gun Park on Thursday evening against the delay in withdrawal of the rustication of three students of Eflu. Mohan Daravath, Subhash Kumar and Satish Nainala were rusticated for allegedly breaking the window of a library.

Students alleged that Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunaina Singh was suppressing the voices of marginalised students from Telangana and was going against the interest of the institution. “We chose the Gun Park martyrs statue because it is the students who led the movement and sacrificed their lives to achieve Telangana. Even though a separate state is a reality, students are being thrown out of universities,” said Shankar S., a research scholar at Eflu.

“The V-C is conspiring to delay the process of withdrawal of rustication in the name of an appeal
letter,” another student said.

Students from Eflu met Manda Krishana Madiga, president of the Mahajana Socialist Party and MRPS, and sought his support. A day-long dharna will be held on June 4 at the Arts College in Osmania University.
