Ex- police official files cheating case against Suvarnabhoomi Developers

Suvarnabhoomi Developers face police probe

Hyderabad: A former cop has filed a complaint against Suvarnabhoomi Developers alleging that he was cheated by the firm of Rs 46 lakh. He said the company had forged documents and sold him five plots measuring about 2,000 square yards which did not exist. However, the company has denied the charges.

The complainant, Mr P.S. Murthy, a retired ASP, said that he and his relatives bought the plots in a layout at Nandigaon village in Mahbubnagar district in 2007. Mr Murthy said that he had paid money via cheques. “Though Suvarnabhoomi promised to develop the land within 60 days, it didn’t. When we approached the officials they said that it was disputed land. They told us that they would arrange substitute land in 2010,” Mr Murthy said.

A case was registered against Bolleneni Sridhar, the MD of Suvarnabhoomi Developers, Meka Srinivas, the executive director and others including singer S.P. Balasubramanyam and film director K. Vishwanath for promoting the venture through media.

Mr Murthy alleged that Suvarnabhoomi had forged land documents. “When we spoke to the gram sarpanch of Nandigaon, we found that they had forged signatures on the sale deed. The sarpanch denied that he had signed the papers. The sale deeds were registered at Shadnagar sub-registrar office,” Mr Murthy said.

Mr Murthy demanded that his money should be paid back with interest.

However, Suvarnabhoomi Developers denied the allegations. “There was no cheating. By mistake certain plots were registered. And on noticing the same alternative plots were offered. But the customer filed a case. He demanded a huge sum as interest,” the firm said.

The accused have also obtained anticipatory bail. “The court granted us bail due to our bonafides,” said V. Srinivasa Rao, the firm’s legal adviser.
