Prakash Raj in a fight at Hyderabad airport
Chennai: Actor Prakash Raj on Thursday described in detail the now famous scuffle at Hyderabad airport, maintaining that what has been widely reported as an in-flight argument, was all wrong news.
The actor revealed that the scuffle was first started by a young man — who the actor alleges was intoxicated.
The man identified as Mohan — flying from Hyderabad to Chennai — insisted that Prakash speak to his girlfriend over the phone. The actor explains, “I was just standing there when I heard this guy speaking over the phone. He was asking the person at the other end of the line, ‘do you want to talk to Prakash Raj? You know the guy who is in the news for a lot of controversy?’”
“I had greeted him initially after his hello but I was surprised when he passed his phone over to me. Maybe his girlfriend hadn’t believed him but he was starting to get very irritating.
“I refused to take the phone and told him to mind his own business. But he kept persisting and soon, turned hostile and started hurling insults at me,” remembers the star.
The situation however, escalated from this point. “He then accused me of being an arrogant person and that I deserved all the bad press I was getting, especially in Tollywood. I called the police and the airport guards.”
After landing in Chennai, police met the aircraft and detained the young man. “He started crying and seeing him in that state, I refused to press formal charges. But as a punishment, I asked the security to make sure he writes an imposition 1,000 times with the line — ‘I will never get involved in fights with other people. My parents are the most important’. I then requested the officials to make sure he writes it and sends the note to me, that’s all.”
Prakash Raj was on his way to Chennai from Hyderabad, for the next leg of promotions for his upcoming flick, Ulavacharu Biryani.
