I am not following IPL: Sreesanth
Mumbai: Former Indian pacer Sreesanth says he is not following the current season of Indian Premiere League (IPL) matches as he is busy with his stint in a dance reality show. The 31-year-old cricketer will be seen in 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', where he will be competing against 12 other celebrities with his choreographer Sneha.
"I am not watching IPL 7. All my time is consumed by 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'. I am devoting eight hours everyday practising and learning new dance forms. Otherwise, I watch previous seasons of Jhalak on YouTube," Sreesanth said in a group interview here. Sreesanth is banned for life by the BCCI for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing in IPL.
The cricketer is hoping that his involvement in the show will help him overcome the bad phase in his life. "The show is helping me deal with the bad phase in my life. My family, and especially my wife support me. Marriage has changed me as a person and when I got the opportunity to start afresh with 'Jhalak...', I grabbed it," he said. Sreesanth married longtime girlfriend Bhuvneshwari Kumari in December, 2013.
Kerela-born Sreesanth has flaunted his dancing skills earlier as well, his act with Shah Rukh Khan during a stage show became popular.
"I am a trained dancer but never took part in a competition. Music and dance is in my blood. All my family members have given a lot of preference to art. Being from a South Indian household, it was mandatory in the family to learn extra-curricular activities. I learnt dance till my high school," said Sreesanth.
Apart from the dance-reality show, Sreesanth is also making his debut as a film music composer and lyricist for a Tamil-Telugu film.
