Google changes logo by ‘1’ pixel
Mumbai: Strange, but true, Google has redesigned their logo by a few pixels and we bet you did not even notice it. Gizmodo reported that Google has redesigned the logo and has realigned the two letters ‘g and l’ by a pixel.
Here are the two logos before and after which are shown below. Try spot the changes. Difficult isn’t it?
Daily users who start their net surfing with Google will definitely fail to notice the change unless they were told about it. A user on Reddit had the initial change noticed and he reported it immediately.
“Google moved the "g" left one pixel and the "l" down and left one pixel on their logo. Google moved the "g" left one pixel and the "l" down and left one pixel on their logo,” is what he posted online.
The actual change of the logo is just the repositioning of the two letters, ‘g’ and ‘l’ which are shifted by a pixel each. The letter ‘g’ has been shifted by one pixel to the left, while the letter ‘l’ has been shifted one pixel to the right and one pixel to the bottom.
The process of repositioning the letters by a few pixels is known as ‘kerning’, which is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result.
Gizmodo further updates that a Google spokesperson provided them a statement - ‘Great to see people notice and appreciate even single-pixel changes — we tweaked the logo a little while ago to make sure it looks its sharpest regardless of your screen resolution.’
