Chandrababu Naidu says Telugu Desam will go national in five yrs
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu said his party will emerge as a national one by next general elections. Addressing party delegates and workers at the Mahanadu on Tuesday, Mr Naidu said that the TD is the only party that is strong in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He said the TD is the ruling party in AP and Opposition party in Telangana.
He said the TRS and the Congress have no presence in AP state and YSRC has no presence in Telangana. He said the Congress may not recover from its debacle in the near future across the country, while nobody knows how long YSR Congress will survive. He said a new party can survive only if it comes to power soon after being launched.
The TD came to power within nine months of it being launched and it is still surviving even after three decades. Mr Naidu said that the TD will emerge as national party by the next general elections and added that the party will have to contest in at least five to six states and get 6 per cent votes by winning some MP and MLA seats.
He said that the Congress was reduced to 44 Lok Sabha seats in the entire country due to the Narendra Modi wave which shows the anger against the Congress for its misdeeds in the last 10 years of its rule at the Centre.
Mr Naidu said that he had predicted much before the recent general elections that the NDA will come to power at the Centre and TD in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. The TD won enough seats in Telangana for it to be the Opposition party. He said in the next general elections the TD will come to power in Telangana too and retain its hold across both states.
