Murli Manohar Joshi and Arun Shourie could be in the running for MoD portfolio

New Delhi: Arun Jaitley, who took the additional charge of defence on Tuesday, in addition to finance and corporate affairs, hinted there will be a Cabinet expansion in a “couple of weeks,” after which there will be another defence minister.
But till then, Mr Jaitley told reporters, he would come to the MoD daily and “clear the backlog of work.” It was speculated Murli Manohar Joshi and Arun Shourie could be in the running for this portfolio.
Mr Jaitley said the defence acquisitions process, that “slowed down” in recent years, would be ‘speeded up”. He also indicated that Army vice-chief Lt. Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag would remain Army Chief-designate.
