Renovation works hit by Vastu mania
Hyderabad: There seems to be no end to the renovation works being carried out in Secretariat to meet the ‘vastu needs’ of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers-in-waiting K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu. Though the demolition and renovation works in Secretariat began in mid-April to accommodate both the Telangana and AP governments from June 2, the officials failed to complete the task so far, thanks to ‘vastu’.
The new entrance for Telangana secretariat towards NTR Garden’s side is again being altered on the advice of vastu experts of Mr Rao. Same is the case with Naidu’s office, which is being readied for him in L-Block to suit his vastu needs after everything had been modified in H-Block. The government has been incurring unnecessary expenditure on account of this since April, besides causing damage to permanent structures in Secretariat.
The Secretariat employees blame officials for taking up renovations in haste, without waiting for the announcement of election results, despite knowing well from past experiences, that vastu would be an overriding concern for whoever became the CM. A kindergarten school was demolished to make way for Telangana CM, from the new entrance being set up towards NTR Garden’s side, as the existing entrance was allotted to the AP Secretariat. A separate road is being laid from there to enter into Telangana Secretariat. All the works are now nearing completion.
However, a team of vastu experts sent by Mr Rao examined the new gate and road on Monday and suggested changes to make it ‘vastu complaint’. Accordingly, changes are being made to modify the entrance and road direction. Another vastu expert team of Mr Naidu too examined the H-South Block on Monday, where the CMO has been readied and found that it is not ‘vastu complaint’. P. Krishnaiah, who is OSD of Mr Naidu and vastu expert Gangaiah, examined other blocks and found that L-Block is more suited vastu-wise and advised Mr Naidu to opt for it. Accordingly, Mr Naidu communicated the same to offici-als, who have now started renovation works on seventh and eighth floors of L-Block.
The CMO is being readied on eighth floor, while the seventh floor is allotted to Chief Secr-etary and CMO officials of AP. They even suggested modifications on CM’s way from main entrance to L-Block. However, all the modifications made in H-Block to accommodate Mr Naidu have now gone waste. The spacious chambers used by then deputy CM Damodar Raja Narasimha were drastically modified and rooms were demolished to accommodate the CMO.
Officials now plan to use these chambers to accommodate Deputy CMs of AP, besides some ministers. Mr Naidu had promised to appoint two Deputy CMs, one each from Kapu and BC communities, during poll campaigning, if he came to power.
