Telugu Desam tries to weaken YSRC, eyes power beyond 2019

TD is using post-poll migrations to weaken YSRC to continue in next 5 years

Hyderabad: History repeats itself. Telugu Desam is adopting a ‘tit for tat’ policy towards the YSR Congress.

Former CM late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy started ‘Akarsha’ policy after the Congress came to power for the second time in 2009. YSR’s son Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also followed the same after launching the YSRC. Several TD and YSRC MLAs have joined the YSRC and now the TD also doing the same.

The TD used the pre-poll migrations to strengthen their own party. And now, the TD is using post-poll migrations to weaken the main Opposition, the YSRC in Seemandhra to continue in power beyond next five years. The TD wants to further weaken the YSRC when it is in deep depression after defeat in the Assembly elections.

The TD has started the mind game immediately after the Assembly results were out. It spread rumours that the YSRC MPs and MLAs were in touch with them to join their party but the YSRC leaders did not take it seriously.

In an unexpected move, two YSRC MPs, S.P.Y. Reddy and B. Renuka joined the TD. After the state bifurcation in Seemandhra, the Congress was wiped out in the Assembly elections.

For the first time in the Congress history, it did not win even a single Assembly seat in Seemandhra. It is doubtful whether it will recover even after 10 years.

In the absence of the Congress, the YSRC is the main opposition to the TD in Seemandhra. If the YSRC also becomes weak there will be no strong opposition to fight the TD in Seemandhra. TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu is known for his expertise in political strategies and he never loses any opportunity to gain politically.

In a strategic manner, the TD is spreading rumours to weaken the YSRC morally and politically.

To discourage the YSRC MLAs and MPs there are rumours that their party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will go to jail again and there will be no use continuing in the party.

In the recent general elections, all the candidates irrespective of political parties have spent crores of rupees.
Former minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad Rao commented before the results “the defeated candidate will cry in the counting hall itself and the winner will cry after going home.”

This explains how the candidates spent money in the elections. After spending huge amounts in the elections, many members whether MP or MLA are not ready to sit in the Opposition. Many of them believe that if they join the ruling party they can make some money in the next five years. This has become advantage for the ruling parties.

The TD leaders said there are many YSRC MLAs in queue to join their party but the YSRC leaders deny this. One senior political leader commenting on the recent political situation said that no one can guess which leader will join in which party till they come out openly.
