Telangana Congress to focus on ZPTC chief posts

Telangana PCC meeting scheduled in the second week of June

Hyderabad: After the defeat in the Assembly elections Telangana Congress leaders have shifted focus to the election of Zilla Parishad chairpersons. In Telangana, of the nine zilla parishads in Adilabad, Nizamabad and Karimnagar TRS got a clear majority.

Congress got clear majority in Nalgonda. In Ranga Reddy, Warangal and Mahbubnagar Congress bagged a majority ZPTC seats and in Khammam TD got majority seats.
In Medak, the Congress and TRS won equal number of ZPTCs, but after the Assembly elections, 3 TD ZPTCs joined the TRS which has a chance of winning the ZP chairperson post.

In Ranga Reddy district of the total 33 ZPTCs, Congress won 15 and TRS 12, TD 6 ZPTCs.
Both the Congress and TRS are trying to get the support of the TD, which prefers to remain neutral. Congress MLC K. Yadava Reddy is the ZP chairperson candidate in Ranga Reddy.

In Warangal district out of 50 ZPTCs the Congress won 24, TRS 18, TD 6 and others two. TD ZPTCs support will be crucial to the TRS and Congress to bag the ZP chairperson post. If the TD ZPTCs remain neutral TRS will have a chance to win the key post in the district.

In Mahbubnagar district out of total 64 ZPTCs Congress won 29, TRS 23, TD 9, and others 2. TD support is crucial to Congress and TRS to win the ZP chairperson post. Anuradha wife of former MLS Vamsi Krishna is the Congress candidate for the post. In Khammam the TDP is short of 2 ZPTCs to win the ZP chairperson post and may not be difficult to get the support of two ZPTCs.

In Seemandhra, of the 13 districts TD got majority in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Anantapur and Chittoor districts and YSRCP got majority in Prakasam, Nellore, Kadapa and Kurnool districts. But in the latest political development Nandyal YSRCP MP S.P.Y. Reddy joined TDP with his followers which changing the equations in Kurnool.
