Modi's swearing in: Hearing impaired to enjoy ceremony
Sign language interpreters to be present at ceremony; telecast to feature facility for deaf viewers
New Delhi: In a first of its kind, sign language interpretation facilities are being put in place at the Narendra Modi swearing-in ceremony to enable the 18 million deaf Indian citizens to follow the details of the programme.
This follows the request made by the delegation of the National Association of the Deaf led by Anuj Jain to BJP president Rajnath Singh. Mr Jain said, “Doordarshan confirmed that the sign language interpreters would be available not only at the ceremony but that the telecast would also be featuring the facility for deaf viewers across the country and world.”
