Youth held for anti-Modi messages in Karnataka

Sayyed had sent an anti-Modi text to a RTI activist in Belgaum

Bengaluru: A 24-year old MBA student of a private college was arrested by Bengaluru police from Vasanthnagar for allegedly sending an anti-Modi text message to an RTI activist on Saturday night. The arrested has been identified as Sayyed Vakas, hailing from Bhatkal.

According to police, Sayyed had come to the city 15 days ago to undergo internship and was staying in Vasanthpur in a rented flat. On May 16, after the Lok Sabha Elections results were announced, Sayyed had allegedly texted an anti-Modi comment to Jayant Vinayakar, a RTI activist hailing from Belgaum.

On May 23, Jayant went to Khanapur police station and lodged a complaint. “On May 29, the accused was supposed to be going back to his hometown. He has been handed over to the Khanapur police,” said joint commissioner of police Hemanth Nimbalkar.
