JEE (Advanced) for IITs today
Hyderabad: The JEE (Advanced) for admissions to IITs will be held on Sunday in five centres across the state. The results will be declared on June 19. As many as 21,818 students from the state have been declared qualified in JEE (Main) and are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced).
However, only 16,000 have registered for JEE (Advanced). The remaining have opted for NITs, IIITs and other Centre-funded institutions. Only the top 1.5 lakh rankers in JEE (Main) are allowed to appear for JEE (Advanced) from last year as part of reforms brought out by the Centre in IIT admissions.
JEE (Advanced) will be conducted in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Vijayawada and Warangal centres. A good rank in JEE (Advanced) will not ensure seat in the IITs. Students also need to figure in the top 20 percentile list of the respective 10+2 Board exams to be eligible for admission.
The exam will consist of two objective type papers that will assess the comprehension, reasoning and analytical skills of candidates. Both papers with a duration of three hours each will consist of three separate sections on chemistry, physics and mathematics.
Candidates can choose either English or Hindi for answering. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in some sections of the test. This is aimed at discouraging wild guesses by candidates.
Paper-I will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and Paper-II from 2 pm to 5 pm.
