Tollywood and TRS are now at peace
The Telugu film industry was one of the worst hit during the Telangana statehood agitations with movie shoots being disrupted almost on a weekly basis. But now, with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti coming into power and having achieved what it had set out to do, Tollywood is making every effort to forget those troubled days.
Top luminaries from the industry — D. Ramanaidu, Murali Mohan, Suresh Babu, Mohan Babu, Hari Krishna, K.S. Rama Rao and Ali, (to name a few) — have been meeting Telangana chief minister-elect K. Chandrasekhar Rao over the past few days to congratulate him over his victory.
“Several properties and business interests belonging to the Tollywood fraternity are still based out of Hyderabad. Before the elections, many TRS members targeted the film fraternity and accused them of taking away opportunities from Telangana. The current meetings are aimed at soothing relations and to smoothen the path towards the long-term growth of Tollywood,” said a source.
The meetings are also aimed at halting disturbances that cause delays in the release of films. Before the elections, several projects faced heavy financial strain due to delays in release dates.
Meanwhile, T-town has not been meeting N. Chandrababu Naidu with such fervour. Celebrities are instead confident that the government of the residuary state, headed by Mr. Naidu, will be pro-Tollywood.
