JK government realised Rs 3,405 crore commercial taxes in 2013-14
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir government has realised Rs 3,405 crore as revenue in commercial taxes in Jammu region during the year 2013-14. According to an official spokesman, the figure was Rs 3070.47 crore during 2012-13.
The Commercial Taxes Department also moved ahead in it plans for computerising the functioning of the department. Apart from e-filing of returns, the department is contemplating rolling out e-filing of VAT 65 and other modules to minimise interface with departmental functionaries, he said.
Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather, while reviewing the achievements of the department, gave specific instructions for ensuring transparent and trader-friendly system and providing conducive environment for honest tax payers.
The Minister directed that the tax payers should be provided all necessary help and guidance while dealing with various technical issues. He noted that the department is the backbone of the state's economy and called upon the officers to put in their best efforts to maximise tax accruals and plug any leakages.
