Chandrababu Naidu slams AP police for his attacker’s escape

Gangi is accused in several criminal cases including the dastardly assassination attack on Naidu

Hyderabad: AP’s CM-in-waiting N. Chandrababu Naidu criticised the police department by calling it “inefficient and irresponsible” following the escape of Gangi Reddy, a red sanders smuggler who had also carried out an attack on Mr Naidu in 2003.

Mr Naidu wrote a letter to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan in which he demanded a probe.

He wrote, “Despite knowing that Gangi Reddy is a threat to me, the police has allowed him to escape him to Dubai.”

“Due to its irresponsible and negligent conduct, the police force has facilitated the escape of Kollam Gangi Reddy from the country after he was granted bail by AP High Court. He is an accused in several criminal and smuggling cases including the dastardly assassination attack on me at Alipri in 2003. Gangi Reddy is also involved in red sanders smuggling,” wrote Mr Naidu.

He asked the Governor to direct the DGP to take immediate steps to arrest Gangi Reddy by issuing Red Corner notice.
