Kiran may wind up JSP
Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is most likely winding up his two-month-old Jai Samaikyandhra Party (JSP) since voters in both the regions rejected it completely in the general elections.
Mr Reddy, who has returned to the capital after spending a few days in Bengaluru, met his party leaders and candidates. They unanimously suggested that he shut down the party. Mr Reddy is keen to defer the decision till he has wider consultations with party leaders.
When contacted, one of the general secretaries of the party Dr N. Tulasi Reddy told Deccan Chronicle, “It is a fact that a few of us have met Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy in the past two days and informed him that it is not advisable to continue with the party as people have outrightly rejected the party in the elections. We started the party for the sake of the state and people. But when the people didn’t bother about us and reject us we have no other go except to wind up the party.”
He said it will be difficult for the JSP leaders to continue their work after the state is divided on June 2. “We cannot continue our activity in the name of JSP as people of the two regions have reconciled themselves to bifurcation,” Mr Tulasi Reddy reasoned.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said no final decision has been taken in this regard. “Some people have met me and suggested it, but no decision was taken. I will hold a meeting of all leaders and we will take a collective decision,” he told this correspondent.
