Anandiben Patel set to succeed Modi as Gujarat CM
Patel is currently holding revenue portfolio in the state government
New Delhi: With Gujarat CM Narendra Modi set to resign on Wednesday to take oath as Prime Minister on May 26, state revenue minister Anandiben Patel has emerged the consensus candidate to succeed him.
The BJP MLAs will formally elect Ms Patel as their leader in the presence of BJP general secretary Thawarchand Gehlot, who has been appointed as the observer to monitor the entire process by the party high command.
Ms Patel’s name has been finalised for the post of the Chief Minister considering her seniority in the state Cabinet.
